I’m usually the one spending the last week before a major holiday, running around like a chicken with my head cut off and so stressed out that my body has gone into full blown “flight or fight” mode! If I can follow my own advice here, this year might be different…..yes this year is GOING to be, WILL be different!!!
1) Everyone gets one “gift”…sure you can buy them multiple items, but wrap them all in one box. This will save you a ton of time and money on gift wrapping alone and who doesn’t want a gift that is full of “extra” surprises?
2) Use store bought or make partially homemade food items…buy a bakery dessert but transfer it to a pretty serving dish and suddenly your meal took a lot less time but still has all the warm homemade holiday vibes you’re going for. Buy biscuits in the tube but brush them with melted butter and sprinkle with herbs before baking. Pick up Cracker Barrel hash brown casserole but transfer it to Grandma’s beautiful casserole dish before you pop it in the oven. The possibilities here are endless…
3) Less is more when it comes to decorations…just like the trend in tiny homes, pare down to just your faves. it will be easier to set up and way easier to clean up after the holidays. You will thank yourself later!
4) Avoid the malls, the parking nightmares, and the checkout lines at all costs! Whether it’s gifts, paper goods, cleaning supplies, olinens for guests, decorations, you name it, pretty much anything you could ever want or need can be found online and it’s delivered right to your door. If you’ve got Amazon PRIME, you can still have things delivered in plenty of time for Christmas! Even the grocery stores will deliver right to your door…pure genius!
